File transfers may be unsuccessful using SCP on devices within StruxureWare Data Center Expert (DCE) with v6.X.X firmware earlier than v6.3.3

Issue

File transfers using SCP within StruxureWare Data Center Expert may be unsuccessful on devices with v6.X.X firmware earlier than AOS v6.3.3.

Product Line
  • Network Management Card 2 (NMC2) and any device with an embedded version of NMC2 such as Rack PDU
  • StruxureWare Data Center Expert

Environment
  • NMC2 device mass configuration (config.ini settings and users)
  • NMC2 AOS versions earlier than v6.3.3

Cause

An issue in NMC2 AOS firmware versions earlier than v6.3.3 causes file transfers using SCP to fail. If configuring the device through StruxureWare Data Center Expert, you may also see this issue. This may affect the transfer of the config, ini file or CSF file for device configuration. This does not affect firmware file transfers.

Note: Both SCP and FTP file transfer fails on all v6.X.X devices with touch screens (apc_hw06_aos_xxx).

Resolution

It is recommended to upgrade your NMC2 devices to use AOS v6.3.3 or higher which is readily available for most NMC2 enabled devices and applications. You can do this within StruxureWare under the Updates->Apply Firmware Updates screen within the DCE client.

If your are unable to update your devices to avoid this problem, set the NMC2 to use FTP rather than SCP. If using StruxureWare DCE for this configuration, make sure to set the correct "Device File Transfer Settings”  options in DCE before you select the v6.X.X devices you want to update.
