Cause

Depending on the UPS type, it may only offer one SmartSlot. If a user requires multiple SmartSlot cards to be installed, this articles what is available to accomplish that and any associated requirements.

Resolution

APC does manufacture a SmartSlot Expansion Chassis for multiple APC SlotSlot Accessory cards, though this chassis is considered a legacy product. The part number for the Expansion Chassis is AP9600. The AP9600 can be used with any aforementioned UPS containing an existing SmartSlot.

The AP9600 attaches to the DB-9 serial port on your UPS system. You can daisychain multiple Expansion Chassis units off of one UPS. However, with two or more Expansion Chassis, you will need a 24VDC power adapter for each additional Expansion Chassis. APC does offer a 24VDC power adapter. The part number is AP9505.

APC also offers the Triple Chassis, part number AP9604BLK. The AP9604BLK contains three additional SmartSlots and is also considered a legacy product. When using all three slots or daisy-chaining the Triple Chassis, the 24VDC power adapter will be needed.
