Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card – Enable SmartConnect Write Access

Issue:
The Trigger Alarm and Run Self Test buttons are disabled in the Diagnostics section of the SmartConnect web portal when SmartConnect write access is disabled.

Environment:
Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Resolution:

Follow the steps below to enable SmartConnect write access:
  1. Connect the USB console cable from the Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card to the USB port on your PC. NOTE: Use the USB cable that is included in the box of your Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card.
  2. Open File Explorer on your PC. Your card will be listed under “Devices and drives” as “AP9649 Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card”. Click on the card and open its “Internal Shared Storage”.
NOTE: You must configure the Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) settings for your Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card before you can access its MTP interface. For more information, see Knowledge Base article FA368319.
  1. Open the card’s configuration file (config.ini) using a text editor, e.g. Notepad++.
  2. Locate the [SmartConnect] section of the configuration file and change the value of UPSWrite to enabled. For example:
[SmartConnect]
;    Status: Connected
;    Reconnect USB cable to update SmartConnect Status
;    UPSWrite=enabled|disabled.

  1. Save the config.ini file on your PC.
  2. Copy the edited config.ini from your PC to your Smart-UPS Cloud Connection Card.
  3. Disconnect the USB console cable from your PC to allow the card to restart and apply the new settings. Allow up to 5 minutes for the changes to apply.
