Environment
  • All serial numbers
  • AOS firmware versions including:
    • v6.0.6
    • v6.1.1
    • v6.1.2
Cause

This issue is the result of a firmware bug present in the aforementioned firmware versions.

Resolution

This issue is addressed in AOS v6.1.3 and higher. In order to resolve the issue, you must have AOS v6.1.3 or higher but this may not be available for all applications. Each Network Management Card has an AOS and application file and they cannot be updated independently. Please check https://www.apc.com/tools/download/index.cfm to verify the latest versions available for your device. If no upgrade is available, some other options are outlined below.

1.) Choose Reset Only (available via the web UI) and select all or specific configuration items. Selecting all will not completely wipe the NMC though if that is required.

2.) Manually delete the required database to reset the settings. This can be done via Telnet, SSH, or FTP.

Telnet/SSH direct to the NMC:
  • Log in to the card with your username and password.
  • Type cd db
  • Type delete cfg2.db
  • Optional: To also remove the current TCP/IP settings, type delete net.db.
  • Type reboot in order to issue a required reboot to complete this action

FTP/SCP (Instructions provided are for Windows Command Prompt FTP client but you can use any client)
  • Log into the card with your username and password.
  • Type cd db
  • Type del cfg2.db
  • Optional: To also remove the current TCP/IP settings, type del net.db.
  • Type bye in order to disconnect the FTP session. The NMC will reboot immediately unless there is another active user session. When all active sessions are closed/terminated, the NMC will reboot.

3.) If you need to factory reset your device, another option is to format your device. This wipes flash memory and any remaining configurations entirely, including your current TCP/IP settings. This step can be done one of two ways:
  • Press and hold the NMC's pinhole reset button for 20+ seconds, ensuring the NMC's status LED is pulsing green during this time. When it changes to amber or orange, release the reset button to let the format function complete and for the NMC to complete its reboot process.
  • Issue the format command via the command line via telnet, SSH, or local console. Issue a reboot command to complete the process.
