Which Smart-UPS products have upgradeable firmware?

Issue:

Some Smart-UPS support firmware upgrades. This article explains which.

Product Line:

Smart-UPS, Smart-UPS Online

Environment:

All models, All Serial Numbers

Cause:

Beginning with our "Next Generation" Smart-UPS products, Schneider Electric began incorporating the ability to upgrade the firmware of Smart-UPS products. "Next Generation" units typically have an LCD screen rather than a simple LED display. These firmware upgrades can include bug fixes as well as feature enhancements. The UPS and a Network Management Card installed in a UPS will each have their own firmware which are independent of each other.

Resolution:

Legacy Smart-UPS products do not support firmware upgrades.
This includes models beginning with: AP, SU, SUA, SUM, SURT, SURTD, SURTA, and SRC.

The following Next Generation products also do not support firmware upgrades:
SMX750, SMX1000, SMX1500 with firmware UPS 02.x or lower. (These units typically have serial numver XX1039 or lower)

All other models allow for firmware upgrades. This includes models beginning with SMC, SMT, SMX, SRT, and XP.
Firmware upgrades can be performed via the Firmware Upgrade Wizard, Network Management Card, or SmartConnect Cloud (on supported models).
Firmware upgrades require that the output power of the UPS be turned off during the process.
The exception to this is the Cloud Enabled units (Currently SMC and SMT units with a "C" Suffix, such as the SMT1000C or SMT1500C). These models support firmware upgrades with output "on" when they are performed via the cloud.

Firmware Upgrades are considered to be normal maintenance and are not covered by warranty.
