Why do all my Carel SNMP devices show up as the same type of device in StruxureWare DCE?

Published date: 12 September 2020

Devices with Carel network cards all discover as the same type of SNMP device in StruxureWare DCE.

Because Carel Network Cards use similar SNMP OIDs for all different devices, StruxureWare DCE can not distinguish between the different devices using the same OIDs. Because of this, it uses the first DDF that it can find that matches the OIDs on the device.

Currently there are 2 options.

1: Install only 1 Carel based DDF and add only that single type of device per DCE server.

2: Discover Carel devices using the Modbus protocol. When discovering Modbus devices, you specifically associate the DDF to the device and can have multiple different DDFs and devices on the same system. This is the preferred method.
