What is the maximum kW rating for the NetShelter SV?
Issue:
What is the kW rating for the NetShelter SV cabinets? Can it support 5 kW of equipment?
Product Line:
NetShelter SV
Environment:
All versions and serial ranges.
Cause:
There's a proposal for NetShelter SV. We need to know if the cabinet will house 5kW of equipment.
Resolution:
While there are no published kW ratings for cabinets we expect the NetShelter SV to be used for low to medium density mixed use applications. The NetShelter SV is not marketed as a "Datacenter" or "ISX" cabinet - specifically because we already have the SX to serve this application. The SV is not compatible with most of the datacenter architecture and accessories such as EcoAisle containment, Vertical Exhaust Duct and InRow.
There are many factors when specifying loads within cabinets - but most of them are related to cooling or heat extraction. The SV was not designed to have a removable roof or any roof fans or chimney, but as long as the cooling in the room is sufficient there is no reason why a customer could not load the cabinet with 5kW of equipment. However, without adequate air exchange there may be some hot spots. If high performance, med-high density cabinets is what the customer requires they should be evaluating the NetShelter SX and InRow, which will be the best fit solution for the application.
