PowerChute Business Edition does not communicate on Redhat 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 with Xen virtualization software installed.
Issue:
PowerChute Business Edition does not communicate on Redhat 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 with Xen virtualization software installed.
Product Line:
PowerChute Business Edition
Environment:
Redhat 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 with Xen virtualization software installed
Cause:
Xen virtualization software installed, PCBE cannot communicate with the UPS because Xen opens the comm ports. Once open, PCBE can not use them for serial communications.
Solution:
If Xen is uninstalled or disabled, PCBE should have no issue with serial communications. Or, Prior to installing PowerChute, verify that a COM port is available. If a COM port is not available, you need to modify your Xen settings in /boot/grub/grub.conf. Refer to the Virtualization Guide for Red Hat Linux for more information on how to modify the Xen settings:
