Issue: What does water collection pan full mean and how do I fix it?
Product line: ACPA400
Environment: Data Center Cooling
Cause:
Resolution:
"The Water Collection Pan alarm means the condensate tray located at the bottom left, near the evaporator coil is full of water. If you remove the two Philips screws on the left hand side of the unit, you will be able to see a gray/silver tray. Please check to see if it is full. You should also check to make sure there are no kinks in the condensate drain line or air bubbles. The end of the tube should face downward as the water exiting the condensate tube should be able to fall freely (the end of the tube should never be submerged in water).
If you haven't done so already, you will want to check the condensate tube quick connect on the back of the unit to make sure it is not clogged with debris.
If the line is not clogged and there are no kinks in the drain line inside or outside the unit, then the pump should not take more than 20 minutes to clear the water pan full alarm. You can check the time stamps of the condensate pan full alarm and the alarm cleared message in the event log on the front display or through the web interface. If the unit goes in and out of the alarm state that would be different, but if one water pan full alarm lasts for an hour or more the condensate pump inside should be inspected.
One last thing would be - what your cool setpoint is. The minimum, we recommend keeping this value at is 68F/20C. If it is set lower than this then the refrigerant is going to be kept very cold and cause excessive condensation. Not only will this cause the condensate pan to fill quickly, but the unit will not cool as efficiently as there will be less surface area on the evaporator coil due to the excessive condensation. Even though the minimum is 20C the unit will typically cool more efficiently at 70-72F/21-22C, especially when considering condensation. 70-72F/21-22C are our highly recommended setpoints."
