Can I use Cat 6 cables to extend NetBotz sensors with RJ45 connectors?
Issue:
Cat 6 cables do not work when extending NetBotz sensors.
Product Line:
NetBotz
Environment:
NetBotz version 3 sensors with RJ45 connectors
Cause:
Many NetBotz sensors come with a cat5 coupler that enables the RJ45 connection to be extended to an extra 100 feet in most cases (see sensor specs for detail). It has been seen when using cat6 cables instead of cat5 for the purpose of extending the sensor cable, the sensor is unable to be detected.
Resolution:
Due to the differences between cat5 and cat6 cables, please use only cat5 to extend NetBotz sensors.
