StruxureWare Data Center Expert version (DCE) 7.x

In order to add devices to DCE, a device definition file or DDF must exist on the server. There are a number of default DDFs already on the system but new files may be required for many 3rd party systems to be monitored as well as updates to the default DDF files.

To add a DDF to StruxureWare, you must first launch the DCE client.
Once logged in, Click the "Device" menu and then either "SNMP Device COmmunications Settings" or "Modbus Device COmmunications Settings" depending on the device and DDF type you want to add.
Select the "Device Definition Files" menu option.
Click the "Add/Update Definitions" button.

If you want to check for the most recent default DDF files, click the radio button for "Check APC Website".
Select the DDF(s) you want to update, hot next, then finish.

If you want to add a DDF that was provided to you in an XML format, click "Local File" and browse to the location of the file on your computer. Please note that if you received the file in a .zip or other compressed format, you will have to unzip the file.
Select the file, click open, then click the "Next" button.
Click on the check next to the name of the DDF you just added and click "Next".
Click "Finish"

You may need to request a device scan for any updates to be seen when viewing device sensors.
