Issue:
How do I use an EPO (emergency power off) switch with my Smart-UPS?
Product Line:
Smart-UPS
Environment:
All current models larger than 1500VA capacity
Cause:
Local code may require that larger Smart-UPS be connected to a dedicated Emergency Power Off switch for use in an emergency.
Resolution:
Most Smart-UPS larger than 1500VA include an EPO connector for use with your EPO Switch.
SUA, SURT models feature a Normally Open dry contact connector
SMX, SRT models feature a Normally Open or Normally Closed connector.
Refer to the user's manual for your specific UPS for directions on how to configure the connector. Please note that EPO connections should be made by a licensed electrician and that there MUST be a dedicated wire pair to each UPS. Attempting to parallel or daisy chain the connections will result in erratic behavior from the UPS and unexpected loss of output power.
