PowerChute Network Shutdown Appliance: Event logs for host shutdown and maintenance mode are disappearing after PCNS restart
Issue:
Event logs for host shutdown and maintenance mode are disappearing after a PowerChute restart.

Products:
PowerChute Network Shutdown v4.3 and 4.4.2

Note: We recommend you install PowerChute version 4.4.3 and configure that, and discontinue the usage of the older version. Powershell and the PowerCLI have been preinstalled on PowerChute version 4.4.3, so when reviewing the script instruction, you can skip to the section to download settings.txt, disable_HA.ps1, and enable_HA.ps1 files.

Environment:
VMware vSphere 7U1 and above with vCenter Server 7U1 and above.

Cause:
Hard shutdown of PowerChute Network Shutdown Appliance when the host goes down.

Solution:
When PowerChute Network Shutdown appliance is on local datastore.


Enable automatic startup and shutdown for PowerChute Network Shutdown appliance and set shutdown behavior to Guest Shutdown with 120 second delay.

When PowerChute Network Shutdown appliance is on shared datastore.

Configure PowerChute Network Shutdown with the attached scripts (enable_HA and disable_HA).  Please follow the instructions in the attached PDF (HA_ScriptInstructions).

NOTE: If vSphere Cluster Services (vCLS) is enabled on the cluster, the attached script will handle vCLS VMs as well.  For more information on using the script for vCLS, refer to KBase article FA416409.
