VMware ESXi host does not shut down when commanded to do so by PowerChute Network Shutdown 3.0 and 3.0.1 running on vSphere Management Assistant (vMA) 4.1 & 5.x.

Issue:
VMware ESXi does not shut down when commanded to by PowerChute Network Shutdown.
 
Product Line:
PowerChute Network Shutdown (PCNS) version s 3.0 and 3.0.1
 
Environment:
PowerChute Network Shutdown (PCNS) on vSphere Management Assistant (vMA) 4.1 & 5.x
 
Cause:
  1. VMware restricts RCLI (remote command line interface) administration access for the free version of ESXi (no write access). 
  2. This is an issue with the remote command line interface (RCLI).

 
Solution/s:
  1. To optimize PCNS’ functions, you must purchase a license for ESXi. For further information, please review kbase FA159705.
  2. Where a licensed ESXi host is in use, upgrade to PowerChute Network Shutdown 4.x
