Scheduled ISXC export of temperature data contains what appears to be an extra character when opened in Microsoft Excel

Issue:

Scheduled ISXC export of temperature data contains what appears to be an extra character when opened in Microsoft Excel

Product Line:

StruxureWare Central, StruxureWare Data Center Expert

Environment:

All versions of StruxureWare Central/Data center Expert
Microsoft Excel

Cause:

ISX Central exports using UTF-8 encoding. When this export is opened in Microsoft Excel, it may appear to have an extra character just before the degree symbol (See screenshot attachment).

Resolution:

To get around this, newer versions of Microsoft Excel (2003 or newer)are able to properly open this file without showing the character when using the file open menu option. Double clicking the file to cause Excel to open it will show the character in the attachment.

If you are using an older version of Excel, you can open the file in Notepad and then save it as an ANSI file type instead of UTF-8 encoding. Reopen in Excel and the character should no longer be there.
