Battery Replacement Procedure for Smart-UPS 420 and 620 VA Models
bullet Self Test

By default, the UPS performs a self-test automatically when turned on, and every two weeks thereafter. If the battery fails a self-test, the UPS emits short beeps for one minute and the red replace battery LED illuminates. The UPS repeats the alarm every five hours. Loads are not affected by a failed test.

The UPS charges its battery whenever it is connected to utility power, whether the UPS is on or off. Recharge the battery overnight and perform the self-test procedure again to confirm the bad battery condition. Either hold the "ON" button in for a few seconds, or turn the UPS off and then on, to initiate a battery test. The Replace Battery LED does not light and the alarm stops when the battery passes the self-test.

If the Replace Battery LED illuminates after the self-test, the batteries are worn and need to be replaced.

Caution: Please confirm that the UPS is plugged directly into the wall. Excessive temperature may decrease battery life expectancy or cause an incorrect replace battery indicator.
