APC Launches Assessment Service for Data Center

The APC Professional Assessment Services Help Companies Optimize Energy Usage of Existing Data Centers

SINGAPORE – June 13, 2008 – APC, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announces the launch of a suite of comprehensive assessment services targeted at data centers to help evaluate and determine the health status of the energy efficiency of the existing infrastructure. This provides a structured framework for organizations to make informed strategic decisions with the planning and even design of these centers.

APC is a critical power and cooling services pioneer in ASEAN to offer such a range of assessment services that can help companies save energy costs by up to 30% and future-proof their hardware investments. Service offering includes:

•     Data Center Power and Cooling Assessment: Documentation and analysis of the data center’s physical infrastructure with recommendations to increase or optimize capacity, utilization and availability. There is also Wiring Closet Assessment which provides documentation and analysis of wiring closet infrastructure components, and recommendations to increase availability.

The assessment service addresses mounting/critical data center challenges like power, cooling, heat, high density and energy efficiency issues.

•     Data Center Electrical Efficiency Assessment: Documentation and analysis of the data centre power and cooling infrastructure to determine data centre electrical efficiency, the factors limiting achievable efficiency, and options and recommendations to maximize efficiency.

  • Data Center Cooling Analysis using computational fluid dynamics: Analysis of airflow and temperature patterns in the existing data center, and 3-D scenario modeling of physical infrastructure changes.

  • Data Center Thermography assessment: Digital infrared thermography of the data center’s electrical infrastructure to identify and analyze hotspots or other conditions that exceed industry thermal guidelines and standards.

  • Blade Server Readiness Assessment: Documentation and analysis of the data center’s physical infrastructure for deployment of high-density blade servers in the data center.

  • Data Center Circuit Tracing: Verification and circuit identification of the data center’s power distribution system from the distribution panels to the racks.

“Poorly designed power and environmental facilities can have a major impact on the day-to-day operation and overall life expectancy of your data center's physical infrastructure,” explains George Kong, ASEAN Vice President, APC. “With Assessment Services you get an analysis of your current power and cooling capacity and utilization, with recommendations on optimizing your current data center infrastructure. The information is critical when developing plans for future growth or consolidation. An optimized design increases performance, extends the life of your hardware, and ensures a higher level of network availability. Our Professional Services Consultants work to fully understand your business requirements.

The suite of assessment services will be launched at the Datacenter Dynamics Southeast Asia Event, on the 13 June 2008, at Swissotel Singapore. As an introductory offer, APC is extending a 30-days special rate of US$10 (S$14) per square feet for power and cooling assessment, from 13 June 2008 to 12 July 2008. Interested parties can contact us at enterprise.sg@apcc.com for more details.
