APC by Schneider Electric appoints new head of data centre services
Sydney, Australia, 8 November, 2011 — APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announces the appointment of Darren Burnnand to the role of head of services, Pacific, with responsibility for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific regions.
In his new role, Darren will be responsible for leading APC’s existing services team of electrical, mechanical and software engineers who are driving data centre design and management strategies that deliver risk mitigation and energy savings to APC’s customers.
“Darren brings over 17 years’ experience in the delivery of complex managed services for technology customers across Europe, Asia and the Pacific. Darren’s skills and knowledge will be a great asset to the business and to APC’s customers,” said Paul Tyrer, Vice President Pacific, APC by Schneider Electric.
Burnnand joins APC from Ericsson, where he held the role of Vice President Managed Services, Asia and the Pacific for the past four years.
“At APC I look forward to meeting the demand for data centre lifecycle services that have been driven by the ever advancing IT demands of the business and the corresponding evolution in data centre infrastructure technology.
“Today’s IT services are changing. I see a clear opportunity to harness APC’s expertise in power, cooling and data centre management software, together with the broader Schneider Electric building and energy management solutions to meet customer demands for reduced energy costs and optimal service provision across their organisation.”
“At APC our research shows energy usage in building and industry is responsible for 44% of greenhouse gas emissions and 53% of carbon dioxide emissions. By going green and adopting more energy efficient technology and solutions, organisations can help mitigate future electricity price increases and help to reduce carbon emissions and cost,” comments Burnnand.
Darren Burnnand’s position caps off a recent series of senior appointments by APC following strong growth in the data centre market across Australia and New Zealand. In July Paul Tyrer was appointed Vice President to lead APC’s growth strategy across the Pacific. In June Andrew Kirker was promoted to Sales Director Pacific, following a successful role as APC Country Manager for New Zealand.
