Chief Innovation Officer

Neil Rasmussen is Chief Innovation Officer of APC. In 2007, Schneider Electric acquired APC and formed the Critical Power and Cooling Services (CPCS) Business Unit, which includes the APC and MGE UPS Systems brands. The CPCS Business Unit reported revenue of $3.5 billion in 2007 and employs 12,000 people worldwide. Schneider Electric, with 112,000 employees and operations in 190 countries, had 2007 annual sales of $25 billion (€17.3 billion).

Until February 2007, Neil Rasmussen served as Senior Vice President, Chief Technical Officer of American Power Conversion, a $2.4 billion leader in power, cooling and management solutions.

At APC, Neil establishes the technology direction for the world’s leading R&D budget devoted to Power, Cooling, and Rack infrastructure for critical networks. Neil is currently leading the effort at APC to develop modular scalable data center infrastructure solutions and is the principal architect of APC’s InfraStruXure® system.

As a recognized expert in both the power electronics and information technology industry, Neil is called upon to provide keynote addresses at industry conferences in both fields.

Prior to founding APC in 1981, Neil received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from MIT in electrical engineering where he did his thesis on the analysis of a 200MW power supply for a Tokamak Fusion reactor. From 1979 to 1981, he worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratories on flywheel energy storage systems and solar electric power systems.
