Jim Simonelli

Jim Simonelli is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of APC. Appointed as CTO in November 2007, Jim is responsible for APC’s technical vision and strategy, including design and development of leading hardware, software and data center solutions. Jim sets the tone for cutting edge technical innovation across the organization.

Jim joined APC in 1991 beginning his progressive career in various Engineering and General Management roles across all product lines. Prior to taking his current position as CTO, he held senior management roles as Vice President, System and Platform Architecture and Vice President, Solutions Delivery Group with responsibility for technical direction and offer creation. Before joining APC, Jim worked for Digital Equipment Corporation.

Jim is a proven innovator in the data center and critical power markets. He holds 10 US patents and is a frequent speaker at power electronics and IT conferences. Jim is also the sponsor for Schneider Electric’s engagement with the MIT Media Lab.

Jim is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and the Green Grid. He received his BSEE and MSEE degrees from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).

Jim resides in Massachusetts with his wife and 3 daughters. His leadership style is best expressed in the words of Benjamin Franklin, “Well done is better than well said.”
