Senior Vice President
Supply Chain, Purchasing and Manufacturing

Ed Machala is Senior Vice President, Supply Chain, Purchasing and Manufacturing at APC. In 2007, Schneider Electric acquired APC and formed the Critical Power and Cooling Services (CPCS) Business Unit, which includes the APC and MGE UPS Systems brands. The CPCS Business Unit reported revenue of $3.5 billion in 2007 and employs 12,000 people worldwide. Schneider Electric, with 112,000 employees and operations in 190 countries, had 2007 annual sales of $25 billion (€17.3 billion).

Ed joined APC in January 1989 as Vice President, Operations and has been instrumental in meeting the purchasing, logistics and production demands associated with the rapid expansion of APC’s product offerings and production levels. Since joining APC, the Company’s revenue grew from $35 million in 1989 to $2.4 billion in 2006 with a corresponding need to increase its output.

To support this demand with high volume, high quality products, Ed executed the global expansion of APC’s manufacturing operations. In this role, he identified locations and established international operations, including a global tax strategy, to meet both geographically diverse customer needs and to help establish and maintain APC as a low cost leader in the industry. In 1989, production was limited to Rhode Island, but to date has expanded to include production in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America. APC has been recognized over the years as a leading global manufacturer of electronics and technology products as well as a significant contributor to the various countries we operate in.

From January 1985 to January 1989, Ed was Director of Manufacturing and Engineering Technology for GTECH, a manufacturer of electronic lottery and gaming terminals, where he was responsible for manufacturing and engineering functions.
