Vendor supplied power supply pinout for Netbotz 500 is incorrect which will cause damage to device if used.

Environment:

NetBotz 500 power supplies.

Cause:

APC has found that a very limited number of power supplies bundled with the NBWL0500 and NBWL0500N, or if purchased separately the NBAC0122 that have been manufactured incorrectly. If these supplies are used in conjunction with your Netbotz appliance, this problem will cause your appliance to malfunction resulting in damage to the circuit board.

Resolution:

Identification:
If an NBWL0500 or NBWL0500N:
1. Identify the Serial Number of the NetBotz appliance itself. This is located on the carton the Netbotz appliance the device was shipped in and is of the form 5VyywwVxxxxxx, where yy is the year of manufacture, ww is the week of manufacture, and xxxxxx is the serial number of the device.

2. If the Serial Number is BETWEEN 5V0801xxxxxx and 5V0843xxxxxx (inclusive), continue to step 3. If the serial number of the device is outside this range, the power supply bundled with the Netbotz appliance is not affected and the device may be used as normal.

3. Remove the bundled power supply from the packaging containing the Netbotz appliance, and identify the serial number on the power supply itself (Vendor part number TPS35A-28). This is located on the unit itself and is of the form Cyywwxxxx, where yy is the year of manufacture, ww is the week of manufacture, and xxxx is the serial number of the device.

4. If the Serial Number is EQUAL to C0746xxxx, this is an affected power supply. DO NOT power your Netbotz appliance with this supply, and please call APC Technical support for an immediate replacement of the power supply. If the serial number of the device is outside this range, the power supply bundled with the Netbotz appliance is not affected and the device may be used as normal.

If an NBAC0122:
1. Identify the serial number on the power supply itself (Vendor part number TPS35A-28). This is located on the unit itself and is of the form Cyywwxxxx, where yy is the year of manufacture, ww is the week of manufacture, and xxxx is the serial number of the device.

2. If the Serial Number is equal to C0746xxxx, this is an affected power supply. DO NOT power your Netbotz appliance with this supply, and please call APC Technical support for an immediate replacement of the power supply. If the serial number of the device is outside this range, the power supply bundled with the Netbotz appliance is not affected and the device may be used as normal.

If you have an affected power supply:
APC apologizes for any inconvenience suffered due to this issue. DO NOT USE this supply to power your Netbotz appliances and please call (800) 800-4272 to speak to a technical support professional for a Return Material Authorization (RMA) to return the defective supply for a properly functioning replacement.
