NetBotz Central 2.x - Unable to Login via Active Directory Authentication

Issue:

NetBotz Central 2.x - Unable to Login via Active Directory Authentication

Product Line:

NetBotz Central

Environment:

NetBotz Central 2.x

Cause:

System limitation.

Resolution:

It appears that, with Active Directory integration configured in NetBotz Central 2.x, if you set your Search Base to the ""top of the tree"" you can experience problems logging in with local NBC users after activating LDAP.

So, for example, with our server if you set your search base to:

dc=Netbotz,dc=com

then you'd experience the problem, but if configured to something more specific everything works fine, like:

cn=Users,dc=Netbotz,dc=com

If a NBC gets into a "hang" state where users can't login, this can be fixed by stopping NBC and removing the local LDAP configuration file. The command to do this is as follows:

rm /usr/local/Netbotz/LDAP/etc/openldap/slapd.conf rm /data/openldap-data/*

Now restart NetBotz Central and local users can login again.
