PowerChute Business Edition does not communicate on Redhat 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 with Xen virtualization software installed.

Xen virtualization software installed, PCBE cannot communicate with the UPS because Xen opens the comm ports. Once open, PCBE can not use them for serial communications.
If Xen is uninstalled or disabled, PCBE should have no issue with serial communications. Or, Prior to installing PowerChute, verify that a COM port is available. If a COM port is not available, you need to modify your Xen settings in /boot/grub/grub.conf.
