PowerChute Network Shutdown Virtual Appliance Hostname resets after reboot
Issue:
The Hostname has been changed for the PowerChute Network Shutdown Virtual Appliance but after the Appliance is rebooted the host name reverts to localhost.
Cause:
VAMI scripts that are used when creating Virtual Appliances. Information can be found in VMware Kbase 2009519
Solution:
1. Power off PowerChute Network Shutdown Appliance:
2. Right-click on the virtual appliance and click Edit Settings:
3. In the Virtual Machine Properties window click the Options tab:
4. Under the vApp options heading click on Advanced and on the right hand side of the window click on Properties:
5. In the Properties window click on New:
6. In the Edit Settings window Category: select Networking Properties Label: hostname Class ID: select vami ID: hostname Default Value: desired hostname NOTE the desired hostname must be entered in lowercase and cannot have spaces or special characters
7. Click OK to close the window
8. Click OK to close the Advance Properties Configuration window:
9. Click OK to close the Virtual Machine Properties window:
10. Restart the Appliance
