Smart-UPS VT-G3500; Why does my UPS report higher output current than input current?
Issue:
Why does my UPS report higher output current than input current?
Product line:
Smart-UPS VT-Galaxy 3500
Environment:
All model numbers, all serial numbers
Cause:
The UPS is rated for output power factor of 0.8, while the input is power factor corrected. The result is a lower input current than output current, as the difference in power factor is 20 percent. As we charge at maximally 10% (of kW rating) and the losses in the unit are around 5% of the input current, we will see a nominal input current when charging at a level approximately 5% lower than the maximal nominal output current at load PF 0.8.
